“The English translation for ‘Kiju’s’ is referring to one’s mother. The reason for this name is that our people have always counted on our ‘Kiju’s’ for making the best home cooked meals around. We know a meal at our ‘Kiju’s’ was always guaranteed to be delicious. Also it would honor all those years in which they have cooked for our families.”
Paul Gould, Membertou
Kiju is the Mi’kmaq word for mother and as we all know mothers have great influence on traditional recipes that are passed down from generation to generation, around the world. We remember our mother’s spaghetti, stew, roast, turkey dinner, apple pie, chocolate cake and many more recipes. “Kiju’s” has embraced this tradition by offering menu items that are influenced by cultures and traditions from around the world.
